IL Maldonado MD, PhD conducts scientific investigation in the domains of cerebral connectivity and cerebrovascular diseases. His works have targeted the functional anatomy of the cerebral white matter, intraoperative brain mapping by direct electrical stimulation in awake patients, and endovascular neurological therapies (H index 19, over 1400 citations). He is the current secretary and past vice-president of the Anatomy Committee of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies and is actively involved in numerous WFNS educations activities worldwide. He is a member of the European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Treatment, European Association of Neurosurgical Societies, Walter E. Dandy Neurosurgical Society, French Society of Neuroradiology the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery and the Brazilian Academy of Neurosurgery.
