Dirk Kunst is working as an ENT-surgeon in the Radboud university medical center Nijmegen (Radboudumc) and the Maastricht University Medical Centre (MUMC+). He is full time employed as a skull base surgeon doing lateral, oncologic and anterior skull base surgery. In 2004 and 2005 he was appointed by the Dutch Cancer Research Society (KWF) to subspecialize in skull base surgery. Subsequently he was appointed as a skull base surgeon in Nijmegen. Since 2018 he is also working at the Maastricht University Medical Centre, being appointed as a full professor in skull base pathology. In both university clinics he is the chairman of the skull base centre and he is chairman of the Academic Alliance Skull Base Pathology Radboudumc-MUMC+. At the moment he is secretary of the European Skull Base Society (ESBS). For 6 years he was editor in chief of the Dutch ENT journal. He is responsible for various PhD projects and over the past years he was one of the leading authors on many top 3 otorhinolaryngological publications and various high impact publications.
